The 2026 Siam PGA Pairs Classic brought 104 golfers to Hua Hin for two days of competition at Black Mountain Golf Club and Pineapple Valley Golf Club.

Held on 15 and 16 August, the tournament marked its ninth staging since launching in 2017.

The event was presented by Thai Luxury Property and hosted by The Marrakesh Resort Hua Hin. Organisers said good weather helped both days run smoothly, while feedback from players had been positive.

“Feedback has been very positive,” said Andy Harris of Siam PGA, adding that players had already begun asking about future events.

Participants Jamie and Tom described it as “a fantastic tournament and lots of fun”, praising Andy and his team for its organisation.

The response reinforced the tournament’s position as a regular fixture on Hua Hin’s golfing calendar.

How the Siam PGA Pairs Classic works

The Siam PGA Pairs Classic is a two-person competition played across two formats.

Players opened with a scramble at Black Mountain, giving teams a more relaxed first round and greater margin for error. The tournament then moved to a better-ball format at Pineapple Valley, with each golfer playing their own ball throughout the second round.

The event includes net and gross divisions, allowing golfers to compete using handicaps while providing a separate contest for lower-handicap and scratch players.

The overall champions are determined by the gross competition, with the winning pair’s names added to the tournament’s main trophy. Prizes and trophies are also awarded to the leading pairs in both divisions.

“We have some serious golfers,” Andy said, explaining that the gross division appealed to stronger players seeking a competitive event in which they felt they had a fair opportunity to win.

The tournament was established after Andy played in a pairs competition in Siem Reap and believed a similar event could succeed in Hua Hin.

He later discussed the idea with representatives from what was then Banyan Golf Club, now Pineapple Valley Golf Club, helping to launch the inaugural event in 2017.

This year was the ninth edition, with the tournament having missed only one year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Andy said its continued popularity came from combining competitive golf at two of Hua Hin’s leading courses with a strong hospitality programme.

“It’s a really good, well-run, well-organised event,” he said. “It’s also excellent value.”

International players and local support

Around 30 per cent of this year’s field came from overseas, including golfers who travelled from Australia specifically for the tournament.

Other participants came from Bangkok, Pattaya and Koh Samui, alongside golfers based in Hua Hin.

Black Mountain and Pineapple Valley have remained central to the event throughout its development.

“Both Black Mountain and Pineapple Valley are world-class golf experiences,” Andy said. “They’re as good as any golf courses in the world.”

The Marrakesh Resort Hua Hin hosted the tournament for the second consecutive year, with the hospitality programme including a beachfront welcome reception and gala dinner.

Andy said the resort had become a strong supporter of the tournament and received very positive feedback from players after first hosting the event in 2025.

Thai Luxury Property also expanded its sponsorship this year after becoming involved in 2025. The company has already committed its support for the 2027 tournament.

According to Andy, the sponsorship allowed organisers to provide more for players, including gifts and golf carts, while helping raise the event’s profile.

More than 400,000 baht in prizes was assembled for this year’s tournament, supported by hotels, restaurants and golf clubs in Hua Hin and elsewhere in Thailand.

Prizes included hotel stays at Marrakesh Hua Hin and properties in Pattaya, along with restaurant vouchers and rounds of golf.

Hua Hin businesses including Coco 51, Prime Steak, Tonic & Ginger and Matt’s Place were among those supporting the prize programme.

Andy said Hua Hin was particularly well suited to tournaments of this type because its golf courses, beachfront hotels, restaurants and sports facilities are all within relatively easy reach of one another.

Plans begin for 10th anniversary tournament

Attention is now turning to the 2027 Siam PGA Pairs Classic, which will mark the tournament’s 10th anniversary.

“Next year is our 10th anniversary, so we want to have a special event,” Andy said.

Thai Luxury Property has already confirmed its involvement, while planning is under way to improve the experience further for players.

“We want a really popular event that’s well-supported and is a great experience for the golfers,” Andy said.

Organisers said the focus would be on raising the overall quality of the tournament and adding further value for players while keeping competitive golf at the heart of the event.
